Frequently Asked Questions
That depends on what you need! Let’s keep it simple. There are 3 factors that determine the final rate for a project.
- Project type – Is it a commercial, explainer video, eLearning module, corporate narration, video game, etc?
- Length: :30, 2 minutes, 1 hour, etc.
- Usage: Company website, event or trade show, paid media, organic social media, etc.
If it will be a sponsored ad or paid promotion, how long will the project be used and what is the audience size?
My rates are typically aligned with the GVAA Rate Guide, so feel free to use it to get an initial idea of industry standard rates.
Contact me here or email me at barri@barrivoiceover.com with your details and I’ll provide you with a custom quote for your project.
Revisions or pickups due to my read or error are always free of charge. Revisions due to script changes after the recording will incur a fee, which is based on the scope of work.
My preferred payment methods are ACH and Zelle. I also accept PayPal and all major credit cards. If you prefer to pay another way, just let me know and I’ll try to be flexible.
Why, of course I do! My studio in Seoul was custom built and acoustically treated to provide the highest audio quality out there.
I split my time between Seoul, New York, Los Angeles, and other locales around the world. I always make sure to have access to a professional studio when I’m on the road. I also travel with a Tri-booth and pro recording gear. I’ve worked with professional audio engineers to ensure that my audio quality from my travel studio matches the quality of my home studio in Korea. Even when I’m on the road, you can be guaranteed that when it comes to your project, I will be right there with you.
Within 24 hours for shorter projects. Longer projects, like eLearning courses, may require a few additional days.
I typically use WeTransfer or Dropbox. I’m happy to work with your preferred delivery method.
That’s totally up to you!
Some clients prefer raw unedited voiceover files because they are still working with the sound design and want to have more flexibility in their own processing.
Others prefer “fully finished” audio so they can drag and drop my voice right into their project.
Raw Deliverable : free of background noise, noise floor at or below -60db, the full script in one file, breaths not removed and recorded at max peak -3db – no processing
Fully Finished : All the above from the raw deliverable including but not limited to: EQ, compression, breath removal, hard limiter, deesser, etc
Absolutely! All completed recordings are backed up and stored in 3 different ways. Need a quick update to a project we worked on two years ago? Five years ago? No problem! I can quickly access and reference all files, even while traveling.
Sure thing! Auditions are part of the job and I do them free of charge. Just send me part of your script and any special directions.
Absolutely. And I love doing them! I can connect via Zoom, Source Connect, Skype, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or even over the phone.
Yes. I work mostly out of my home studio in Seoul, South Korea, and can easily travel to any studio in Seoul.
No. I currently do not have a synthetic AI voice. When you work with me, you are guaranteed 100% original Barri – all human, all the time. 😉
I do! One of the benefits of having over a decade of voiceover experience is that I’ve gotten to work on VO projects with all kinds of fantastic talent over the years. We can’t all be the right fit for every project, and I’m more than happy to refer you to other professionally vetted talent. I also have experience auditioning and casting larger projects that require various voices.
Nothing! It is indeed my full name. There’s a pronunciation guide here. Sounds like Manilow. 😉
I really did! I moved to Korea in 2010 and just returned to North America in January 2024. I never expected to stay that long, but it turned out there was tons of professional acting work for foreigners in Seoul. And it wasn’t limited to voiceover! I appeared in several Korean films and TV shows over the years. My acting career grew and flourished in Korea, which is what kept me there for so long. I’m excited to take that amazing experience and apply it to my business now that I’m finally back home.
I wake up at 6am local time every day and the very first thing I do is check my email. I respond to all emails ASAP every morning.
I am accommodating when it comes to scheduling live directed sessions. It’s not unusual for me to stay up late or wake up early to record live with my clients on the other side of the world. If we work together, I am right there with you. That is my promise to you.
These days I am spending more and more time in the US and Europe. This helps me be more available to Western clients during their business hours.
